From what I have read about egg production you can expect a 10% reduction in eggs per year. From their first year. through out their lifespan

That sounds about right, except for my Leghorn that went from 6 day per week to ZERO after her second laying season. If eggs are your priority, you will be very frustrated by broody breeds, unless you keep a separate pen just to let them hatch. Cochins and Silkies are dedicated broodies, and Brahmas probably are as well. My hub's has always want those, but I worry they would be too hot in the summer. I might have to risk it!

Wow! You are the first person that ever got that! I made it intentionally vague to see if anyone would think it through. Wouldn't want a door without a screen and good locks, but also want to open it frequently to see what's out there!
