eggsessive, i know i did wrong and i dont know why i added. the babies were an accident from when my mom was sick and i couldnt get out there. the ones that are sick are the ones that were sick before. i went on facebook and asked for someone to please order the powder for me and my nephew has done it. it will take 5-7 days to get here but it will be easy to treat them. i cant bring myself to cull the flock, i have tried. i would give anything for a healthy flock except their lives. when the dwindle down to 10 or so then i will cull the rest. i guess i am a care giver and always will be. i am pretty sure it is crd. the bubbles give them away.

Excellent advice from Eggsessive as always. Glad someone is getting the powder for you. Didn't catch before about the bubbles in the eyes. You could very well be dealing with MG (mycoplasma-gallisepticum) when the next one dies can you send it off to have a neocropsy done on it. If its MG in my opinion if you want to keep them I would treat with Denagard. You give a few day treatment then you give it once a month in there water if I'm remembering right to keep them from getting flare ups. They don't build up a resistance to Denagard. You should read up on it. Need to know for sure what it is tho.
And close your flock none in none out. No hatching. It's better then seeing them get sick.

this is probably why they seized and died on me. it happened in my hand after the injection. the ones it didnt hurt are well. so the powder should clear them up. i told my husband tody, if i even attempt to buy another chicken, smack me. i feel very guilty by bringing some home. i gave them a death sentence. no necropsy. no leaving the house even for the past 3 months. been relying on strangers to bring me most things. milk, meds, ect.... dr. yesterday , and i thought that was a treat.lol even if he did tell me i had a tick illness. gross!  thank you eggsessive for being honest with me, i dont take your words lightly.:love

I wouldn't even give the adult chickens injections of Tylan because of the muscle damage or force it down the throat. That's why I would go for the powder even if it cost a lot.

suzierd, i didnt know of this med. or i probably would of ordered it first. since the tylan is already ordered i am going to try it. once a month preventative sounds good. hope i dont forget. it happens. these were great posts, thank you !! i was wondering if i closed part of my coop off, it would be easy to do, and added all the april babies in there ,about 4 brooders , i could treat them all together? the part that would close is a wire top and i have dog houses they can go in. the lows here are 55-60. its every where now anyway. you think being that young they would know to go in the dog houses if it rains?put their food in there maybe? it would just be so much easier on me to treat like that. i have a humongous run. i dont like to see them penned up and cant let them free range because of their size so every yr. seems like i add more space. i will have to do the math because the coop is turned in a L shape then more added so they are not even any more. i did check into a necropsy but i dont remember why i didnt do it. i want to say that i had to take it to the big city but i am not sure.

forgot to tell you, your tylan , i was told, if it is stored properly can go 18 months past exp. date. dark, dry.

The Tylan should help at first but they will it will get resistant to it and eventually it won't work. No resistance to Denagard. And a monthly does keeps them from getting sick. I would deffently get the neocropsy so you know for sure what respitory disease your dealing with. It's also great to have Oxine on hand in a spray bottle to spray your coop when yo clean it and your shoes before you go to the feed store, kills the germs.
