I asked this before and don't think it was answered. My silver laced wyandottie is less than a year old and hasn't played an egg in weeks. Is it normal for this to happen to such a young hen? All the rest are still laying strong. Even the two year old Brahma lays every other day.

is she molting ? sometimes a molt isnt bad and you cant even tell but it will cause them to stop laying..

Red, Im surprised your silkie hasnt gone broody again.   I still have a broody hen through all this deep freeze going on.

It was my leg horn that was broody. My silkie is 12weeks old I think. How old do you think she'll be before she goes broody?6 months or more? Thought about putting some eggs in with her just to see what she does lol. I know she's young yet though.

forgot it was the leghorn broody. that may never happen again. silkie will need to lay some eggs before she will go broody. Get busy on the incubator.

Yes. I've been trying to look for evidence of that too. Haven't found nothing. My leg horn is in with her and I get her egg every day. Wouldn't she eat hers too?
