I had planned to stain both sides of the boards. That's good enough for the siding? Or white wash is better? I didn't want the white wash to seep through the cracks and onto the stain.

I think if I was going to go to the trouble to seal the floor from oyster I would also sealed the plates studs and of the walls also.

It would make for easier spray hose cleanout.

Is that different from what I said?

Actually, now that I'm thinking about it, they did white wash the floor before the frame went up.

It comes in about 100 colors. I chose to do the entire inside in it and painted the outside.
I used T1-11 siding for the outside.

I'm not sure that stain is waterproof. I think the paint that tippy showed, is.

I think stain, without sealer, is water resistant
I'm looking for some comments Bert!

For hardi, the only special tool you need is a blade for a circular saw.
Especially if you attached with screws.

Y'all have to cut me some slack on posting. It's difficult to drive, keep my beer from spilling between my knees, and post on here.

With Hardie plank I was thinking about all the little cuts and do-bobs that need to be done for a coop. Chicken doors, roosts, nest boxes that need to be attached. I thought wood would be more amenable to all that stuff!

No, you can use hardi for all of that. Seriously, just a cement fiberboard saw blade is all you need.

Among the other things I have on my plate, I am putting up skirting from my moms house. She has a house that was built in the 1800s. Our floors in the winter get very very cold. So I am using Hardy siding for the attaching it to the woodframe I built using deck screws
