@Sally Sunshine yes! That was maybe it! Was that the same thing you linked me? Am I crazy?

yes it was, no problem campin! I figured you missed it! promise when I get time I will work through the abstracts and studies and try to explain things easier and actually write an article or just post and link to it. That was a ton of info, and those can get confusing and if you dont have subscriptions to the pages you cant read them in full anyways. I have membership to a few because of being part of the Pa Ag division and also because I am a poultry tech. You will have to research your breed and try to figure out what the standard egg weights are for your specific breed you wish to incubate. That can be done online searching for the breed associations as well as reading through forums. Not sure a bunch of info is to be found on your breed, but you can at least reach out and send an email to someone on the breed assoc. typically they list emails you can use. @campingshaws

and we have another chick, just a few minutes ago, and also what I think was a bantam chick, just zip.

three chicks in the bator.

morning all, congrats Bert, told you they were coming early .

I love being an I told you so.. I rarely ever am. LOL M eyes, the one that is mostly piped and yellow . It looks like a gob of yolk to me. ?
@Sally Sunshine The mystery egg is still trying to do an external pip, With lots of air room do you think it can make it on its own ?

I'm working.

kids are the ones that have taken over momma's phone and are sending the updates, complete with videos, that are so blurry you can't see anything. they are excited.

aww, You dont get to watch ? explains the "yellow blob" . LOL Im thinking the mystery egg must be brown leghorn judging by size of chick and not polish.

when did the external pip show up? give them 24 hours to rest and absorb. there is a lot of absorbing to do. you read the link I gave for berts?

awwwww Bert, you need to ask her to video them watching, that is priceless, wish you could be there with them. I know they seen births and stuff before but there is something about seeing an egg you typically eat and watch it for so many days enter into the world as a living creature. I swear the kids are more in awe than when pups come!

granny you wont know till it hatches, the polish eggs I put in the bator I snuck a peak, seems only one is viable. Harmony was upset about it, it was day 5 but we can see in them very good. what a downer.

there is not an external . Internal pip for over 24 hrs. I can see it trying . I just wonder if there is too much air space ? I dont know what you sent Bert. I watch about every one I can find though. LOL
