there is not an external . Internal pip for over 24 hrs. I can see it trying . I just wonder if there is too much air space ? I dont know what you sent Bert. I watch about every one I can find though. LOL

yes it was, no problem campin!  I figured you missed it!  promise when I get time I will work through the abstracts and studies and try to explain things easier and actually write an article or just post and link to it.   That was a ton of info, and those can get confusing and if you dont have subscriptions to the pages you cant read them in full anyways. I have membership to a few because of being part of the Pa Ag division and also because I am a poultry tech.  You will have to research your breed and try to figure out what the standard egg weights are for your specific breed you wish to incubate.  That can be done online searching for the breed associations as well as reading through forums.  Not sure a bunch of info is to be found on your breed, but you can at least reach out and send an email to someone on the breed assoc. typically they list emails you can use.  @campingshaws

Lagertha's eggs are 38-40g and standard for honas is 45-50g. So the 40 are pretty close to the low of average.

Did you see my question about ethics? That's what I'm really anxious over. :/

of course granny, if you seriously saw and internal like these below (video in that link too)..... 24 hours ago you can use the tip of a sterile wood screw or drill bit or dremel and create just a small external LAST PIC and put it back and keep humidity up, you just have to keep in mind everytime you open the bator you are causing evaporation on each egg in there. Think about you opening the front door and getting that blast of cold air, even though humidity head back up on the dials quickly, the egg shells are porous and take longer to fill back up. so each time you are taking more moisture away from them.... so do whats best for the majority of your eggs.

just a tiny hole where you see the tip of beak in candle and let it alone and start timing again

dont hesitate! This was a member posting about losing their hens and hatching from pullets, but within just a generation or two noticed the birds weren't as big or laying eggs the same size.

I want to talk about the weights of my hona eggs and whether they're close enough to the right size, or if it's unethical to sell chicks from pullet eggs with the knowledge that they won't grow to the (nonexistent) standard.

I had to go find it.

Yes. I read your last line but I also know what you do. The info was already out there but it was much easier to just ask you. And thats a bit of lazy on my part and why I said sorry. I know your big heart and willingness but some , including myself need to help themselves too.
