hey granny. I haven't been on a lot. Been busy with another coop and trying to find wood and pallets. You haven't said or done a thing wrong. Honestly I don't think anyone on this thread could even come close to offending me lol. I really can't remember being offended my whole life .

Found two hens eating egg this morning. Hoping it was just a fluke. Or maybe they're just bored in there. I've got a head of lettuce for them so I'll toss it in today.

Most advice I've seen is for roll-away nests, or gumbo pot. They're not new layers, and never had trouble before, so hoping it was a one time thing. I immediately removed everything from the nest, hay and all, and collected the other eggs. I'll check the feeder and give them lettuce. Should help I hope.

Im going to do something stupid today. DH is wanting out of the house and I cant think of a thing to do except a different town with better chicks . Gas in the van and lunch will take uo a third of that check. I will end up with chicks I am not really wanting. and tired and sore from the trip. He dont care where we go as long as he is going.

Sounds like your Tom has a case of spring fever! Good to get out of the house and hope you have fun!

So far the only time my hens have eaten eggs is when they were accidentally broken, usually from weak shells. Make sure your guys have oyster shells! Good greens like kale, broccoli, and alfalfa are good for them and have extra calcium too!

How's your chick with the mystery troubles? Any more crowing from the brooder?
