Linda, I get that all the time and I eat it. when an egg passes through the reproductive track sometimes it will pick up little pieces of stuff. its nothing that will harm you. grosses some people out. a blood vessel can break too and get a spot of blood. still safe to eat. pretty common. The reason you dont see it in the store bought eggs is the same reason they sell white eggs. easy to candle and toss them. It "might" be called a meat egg.
Eggs with blood spots are sold to bakeries. All your donuts and cakes and breads have them baked in.

Roberts worker says I have web cam on lap top. works like a camera ?

Your own personal IT guy! He can help when you get your new camera. (When I get my act together!)

Camping, so sorry about Ash.

I really thought she had a chance. You did what you could, but if they are past a certain point, it's out of your hands. So sad.

2 eggs, one had its beak sticking out for a while no movement and the other just hatched. black again. Sargent Murdock was a busy fellow. Was really hoping for the swedish to throw his gene in there . Anyway the one that hatched , the shell and cord look yucky. the cord is full and brown. the one with the beak out was dead. Looks like it pipped too soon. still had a large yolk sack. it was wet as well. I hope theres not too much humidity now and why are they hatching one at a time ? I dont see anymore pips right now. humidity says 61

Granny, you still on? Fussing over hatching chicks would make me crazy!.. I like to blame it on the hens. Don't they add a lot of humidity when they hatch?

It's almost 1am for you. Hope you are happily sleeping.

one of them had their wing stuck to the membrane and couldnt finish hatch the other looked nasty in there. brown and the cord was brown and full.

I've got store bought bators, but I really struggle with keeping chicks separated by breed in them. They aren't tall enough to put high sided baskets in them. My chicks end up jumping over the edges & get mixed up.
build hardware clothe cages to place them in. You can make those as tall as you want.

Crafty yes. Craftsman no. The incubator is and has been a fun project. Everyone should try building one from the ground up. My skills are minimal I just happen to have enough tools and the right drive.
