Good morning to you, Twist! I missed that earlier because I had laid down to take a nap when the GS took his.

It was so pretty this morning that Ryan and I worked on cleaning up all the plastic mulch on our tiny little garden patch. I never have been able to understand why people think they are doing something good for the ground by putting black plastic down. Any way the ground is yucky, slimy and smelly now. I am going to buy a bale or two of straw to put on the ground and some night crawlers for Ryan to put under the straw.

The dove is still sitting tight. Fingers crossed for her.

x2. The previous directors stapled down landscape fabric then put down rock. I've been pulling it all up a few feet at a time, but it's a huge pita. I'm going to sow the whole thing in native wildflowers, which will be a huge pain for the next directors. :lau

Lunch break! Oh man. I think hubs needs to stop watching and uploading videos when he's not on wifi. We have a ten gig plan and I just got a notification "you're at 75% of your data usage".

Sigh. Course it probably doesn't help that I stream iheartradio on my commute lol. But then, he streams Pandora so...

Oh well. In lunch news, I'm such a stinker. Made chicken fajita soup last night for dinner. Hubs requested some for his lunch. I said no cause I was planning on having the leftovers for dinner tonight.

However, there was enough for me to give myself a mason jar of soup for my lunch. Mwahaha. (He'd need a big honkin mason jar though.)

I am an evil wife.

Tippy, I have a confession:

I didn't bury my dead hens. I didn't even put them in boxes. They were both in crates, one on the front porch and one on the back porch. So no matter which way I left the house, they could remind me of my failure, and remind me to be more present, aware, and diligent.

Finally I got them off the porch and into the compost/burn pile. I thought about a Viking pyre, but couldn't decide how to build it (like I have time anyway). I covered them with hay, and now they'll become part of the process.

So you're not the worst, because I am.

I can totally understand why you did that. For some reason the burn/compost pile seems okay for chickens and not for cats in my weird brain....not sure why, maybe the mammal vs. bird?? Who knows?

That one was funny, but I had to look up the bird because it is one we don't have here. Black-throated magpie-jay. They are found in Mexico, although recently a few have been seen in southern California, so I guess it's possible one showed up on Sheldon's windowsill. It's a pet peeve of mine when wildlife is misrepresented in movies and tv.

Old Disney movies and Mutual of Omaha's Wild Kingdom are the worst. How many times have you seen a "hawk" flying high above and screeching at the characters below? 9 times out of 10 it is footage of a turkey vulture, and they don't call, they only hiss. I would love to have one of those magpie-jays, though. Very cool looking!

Hey York, how do you post a gif????
Thank you for this! Loved that ep also and was wondering what the bird was but never got around to looking it up. Popped on this thread after many moons and saw that "recently posted" pic, was delighted that someone was talking about BBT and that ep especially. Would have loved to be in the studio audience for that one.

And ditto on the misrepresented wildlife. I used to use shows like those and "realistic fiction" when I was a kid to increase my knowledge about animals, assuming the author or filmmaker did his/her homework. Was crushing to learn they sometimes make it up or don`t check facts. Can`t think of an example just now, but there were plenty I learned later.

I know being tired messes with my vision.

The power company has spent the last 5 years or so "upgrading" everyone to a "Smart Meter" which not only keeps track of how much you use, but when you use it. Supposed to be to "help" customers "manage" their energy use. Ha! It was to set us up for tiered rates and rate increases. Why else would they have spent all that money?
Big Brother is watching us all.
