the white is not. Alchemist farm sales backyard versions of hona that have white bits on beak or toenails at a discounted price over their all black counterparts. Alot of new breeders to the fibro chickens have/are ignoring these imperfections and selling them as pure birds. As a matter of fact, a certain well known breeder shipped out a secondary batch of cemani chicks after the first ones died in transit. The majority of the second batch had imperfections but was all the buyer would end up getting from them after months of corespondence and little response or recourse from the breeder.

I know a lot of serama folks that find that very wrong. says too many birds circling around being called serama when their not. They will cull their birds . some will sell at a big discount because the "genes" are there and some just dont care .

I've never been. They are up north from me but there might be one in puyallup... That's not to bad of a drive. Gotta go check them out!!!

me and my comma placement. LOL I recon if you come for a visit we can pu- y'all -up. just hoping things dont git turned around and we can pu-up- y'all .

Some of them have white tips on their beaks. Not really desireable, but since there's no set SOP it's hard to know if it's acceptable or not.

Coffin coop is the original. I never talk about it or post pics because it's small and ugly and I hate it. DH built that and ignored every bit of my advice or requests. :rant

Imperfections can arise in the pure breed birds, just like any species of animal with a standard. The difference is we can't spay/neuter and sell "pet" quality birds.

It seems to me like the old quandary with heritage vs. hatchery standards. Hatchery speckled sussex do not have the same spangling or body type as the well-bred birds. They don't carry the same price stickers, either.

I don't see an issue with "homestead" quality birds so long as the buyer understands that's what they're getting. Until there is a written SOP I'm not going to cull for gray tongues, white toenails, or beak tips. If I did, I wouldn't have anything left.

I thought his biggest issues were with the ayam cemanis?

I dont know crap about SOP but if I were buying these birds I think I would be more interested on whats inside . as far as black meat, ect... I find that to be the fascinating part.

lol... Haahaaa it is pronounced puwahhlup. A lot of towns are named after tribes. There are some doozies!
