I can finally "feel" pin feathers coming on my ducks. They are big too. Was going to ask @enola when they wouldnt need the heat any more but I was afraid she would tell me to take the heat lamp and just knock them in the head with it.

I would be tempted too !

Granny has my one SS that survived from the order I had placed intending it to be my new flock (before we decided we're moving) - can't wait to see how it grows up.  DD and I are absolutely in love with the look of them - suppose that is one upside of moving, when I was out there last spring my favorite farm store had TONS of SS chicks in their brooders - and lots of other breeds that TSC/RK don't bother getting out here.

Which store was it... Do you remember the name?

Do I remember the name - they are, imho, the ONLY store to go to out there -- WILCO! I may be a bit partial as I worked for them when we lived in Oregon, lol. Going to WILCO was on my list of things I "had" to do while I was out there, even brought home a sales flyer. The specific location was their Lebanon store, but I know when I was working there (I got to be "chicken girl" every spring) our stores all sourced from the same hatchery -- of course this was before they expanded into Washington, at this point there were only 8 stores. Each store got to place their own orders so different stores had different selections.

I've never been. They are up north from me but there might be one in puyallup... That's not to bad of a drive. Gotta go check them out!!!

Some of them have white tips on their beaks. Not really desireable, but since there's no set SOP it's hard to know if it's acceptable or not.

Coffin coop is the original. I never talk about it or post pics because it's small and ugly and I hate it. DH built that and ignored every bit of my advice or requests. :rant
the white is not. Alchemist farm sales backyard versions of hona that have white bits on beak or toenails at a discounted price over their all black counterparts. Alot of new breeders to the fibro chickens have/are ignoring these imperfections and selling them as pure birds. As a matter of fact, a certain well known breeder shipped out a secondary batch of cemani chicks after the first ones died in transit. The majority of the second batch had imperfections but was all the buyer would end up getting from them after months of corespondence and little response or recourse from the breeder.
