yup !!! not guarding them though . he has 3 hens of his own and i am down to 2 guineas. they do their own thing all day long but he catches them in the mornings. one of them did just start sitting in the coop. is that it??

Do you think he's trying to protect them from you or maybe to herd you in with them?

i really dont know what he is trying to do. he is not hurting me. he flogged my ankle with my boot on and it felt like he just bumped into me, them he flew into the feed bucket i had in my hand and knocked it out. and now he will charge at me but i charge back and he backs up.

That rooster in my avatar. He used to beat the snot out of me and charging him, holding him, pinning him to the ground did nothing to stop him. I think a predator got him, he's been gone a long time now but he was one of the prettiest birds I have ever seen. I don't have any babies from him because they were all too young when he disappeared.

he is beautiful . or was i guess. just have to carry a stick with me i guess. it could be because of the sitting guinea, who knows??

Oh, he wasn't afraid of me carrying a stick. I wouldn't hit him with it but one time I threw a rock in his direction and I have very lousy aim, I hit him and I nearly died on the spot. He was fine but I wasn't. LOL

haha, probably should of thrown it harder. lol i had the garden hose in my hand last time mine did that. talk about a funny looking roo

Well, no matter how mean he was, I loved him and didn't want to hurt him. I did try the hose but that didn't deter him at all. I had my husband walking behind me to protect me from the kamikaze attacks. At first my husband didn't believe me, took about 2 weeks for him to catch that roo attacking me. Then he wanted to know if I wanted him to wring it's neck. Oh, gosh, NO! I wanted pretty little chicks from him. Sadly, never got them.

Hope your dr apt goes well. Good luck.

this is probably the hardest post i have ever made. I have thought on this for some time. see I knew I was in need of surgery on my foot but i didnt know the extent of what is to come. my Achilles tendon is hanging by a thread, the bone is crumbling away and the fluid is in front and behind the heel. I am to have part of my heel removed, anchors drilled into the remaining bone, all the dead tissue and bone pieces removed , taking a tendon from a different location on my foot and trying to reattach it to the tendon that is left and the screws. So I made the decision to rehome the most of my flock. the neighbor is aware of the illness and has some of my prior babies. I will be keeping a few laying hens, and my phoenix bantam and his one mate. all of my silkies, cochins, well, i cant even begin to name them are on there way as i write this. I am of course, heart broken. all the work and support i have been giving is not for nothing. i have meet some wonderful friends here and learned a lot. the dr. says i will be bed bound for 3 weeks and in a cast for 6 months. I have no one to take over my jobs. my son as most know, is autistic. he has a woman come by twice a week and she and her husband has agreed to water and feed them for me. I couldnt in good concise allow that. with just a few, 5-10 , not sure on number yet, they can feed and water them once a week i hope. if not, then they will go too. It is required that i have a family member drive me to the hospital, wait to talk to surgeon and drive me home. these strange, wonderful people have offered to take the day off their work and do this for me. cabs and catch a ride ( i guess that is transportation) are not allowed. I dont know how i will repay them for their kindness but repay them i will. I will have to be cleared by the heart dr. tomorrow then probably surgery this monday. if not it will be next monday. I want to thank everyone that has helped through all of my problems, my mothers death, my husbands illness, the chickens sickness. and to all that laughs at my stupid jokes. i will do an arnold swartanager. ( god my spelling sucks) Ill be back !!! GRANNYS GONE AND DONE IT !!
