wishing 4wings, what an awesome handle !! i am honored that you would take that much time in reading an old ladys ramblings. i sound bipolar huh? i am quite sane. its my life that is nuts. so heart attack on the table hu? thats terrible. after the stuff they are putting me through to get clearance if i do have one we know who to blame it on. lol i was reading the papers today(good thing ) because i am to stop my heart meds. tomorrow. so lets see, stop the meds., stress me out, already had 3 heart attacks. wonder how that will turn out? with a cath. i would guess. ALL stress tests come back wrong after you had a heart attack , the only way to tell is with a cath. so its money in the pocket. and to top it all, the paper says, reason for test; chest pain ! lol i have been offered home health care and they are supposed to start soon, before surgery. cause i aint no good now. i guess my worry with that is they will have a couple hrs. a day and i have to pee all day long.

Granny Hatchet, dang your Doc appts sound like mine a long trip to be told they are going to do something else before they fix the problem!! Can't waste a trip for only one thing have to get groceries, other needs, and the wishing for to make it a non waste of fuel. THEN have to pack it all up the steps into the house. Sometimes we (my Sis and great Niece) each carry it so far, unload to the steps, next carries it in, other starts unpacking and putting it away.

Doc is currently trying to figure my carpal tunnel as numbness is spreading up to the shoulder I dislocated years and years ago. Why can't they just believe us and get the ball going to fix us huh??

Your sheets sound very pretty! I hope the toes in bed for rest will pass quickly. Stress test.... tell em you have had enough of that Thank you very much!! Huggg hope all goes well. - Sara

its called the ulnar nerve. diagnosed with a nerve conduction test. and they hurt like heck. not much to be done with nerves. i am sorry

whats the largest chicken breed there is? i have seen jersey giants, never had one but i also saw some kind of show chicken that was bigger. i could of bought it and didnt .it looked like a turkey leg. that was a couple yrs. ago. yes, i am planning. lol i have had tons of breeds , now to figure out what i liked the best. umm, does anyone know what i liked the best??? everyone loves the silkies and polish and there are tons. i want colorful and rare for sure. hardy is a must and non sitting should be thrown in the mix as i seem to end up with way more then i need.i dont want big roosters but would love to have a really big hen. and the tiniest roo we can find.i really liked the one top hatter i had that was white with black spots, blue waddles and bantam sized.30 should be my cut off point. any thing over that is too much. and where to get them. no more sick chickens !!! i know that involves ridding myself of the others and disinfecting every thing and waiting but i am ok with that. i dont think the swaps are the go to place for the chickens . i would like to get them all at the same time too. we have to make some plans people !!!

Not sure what's the biggest chicken officially, but Brahmas are pretty dang big. Any of the large breeds you see at a show seem huge compared to the hatchery versions. As for small, can't get much smaller than a Serama, and they're really friendly too, which is a bonus. Not trying to enable you or anything, but here's a pic of my son's Serama rooster. He's a sweetie.

They don't do well in the cold (anything much below 40°).

ohh, pretty !!! enable me, enable me, i have my very old rooster that is smaller then the serama. genetic flub i guess. i have had him since i first started chickens. the serama roo would be great with the big hens . it he is like mine all he can reach is the drumstick. i actually had a little one once that would jump on the ladder and wait for a hen to walk by so he could jump on her back. crafty little guy. im afraid it never did him any good though. he would always fall off one side or the other. seemed to make him happy though.

here is the little guy i still have . he is checking out the fluffy butts.lol i think that is an alstroup (i cant spell) baby he is standing next to. i dont think i will have him much longer. he is slowing down pretty fast. is this a serama??

What a little character he is! Very cute. I'm not very good with breeds. Probably a mix. He could be part Serama or Nankin or Old English Game bantam or...

. If he's survived an Indiana winter without added heat, doubt that he's Serama. They have thin blood and like it above 40°. I really like his color. Orange and gray look good together.

How is your foot doing? Mine has been bugging me for a while, and today it really hurts. You have inspired me to break my no doctors rule and see if something can be done (but I don't wanna!!

). Tired of gimping around though, so maybe I'll talk myself into it.

def. below 40 in winter but i keep them pretty well protected too. i blocked all the wind with insulation and sheets so they couldnt eat it, put plexiglass windows around to let the sun in. a heat lamp that was a mistake because they got some frostbit combs. my foot is hurting , i go for the stress test tomorrow. i havent been wearing the boot and really havent been walking much. after hurting it with the boot on i just want to rest it. the swelling has gone down some. i am dreading this so bad. i just cant stand the thought of staying in bed or being in pain. who knows, after the fluid is removed maybe it wont hurt as bad? its like an infected tooth with the pressure of the infection behind it just pushing on the tooth. so what is wrong with your foot wishing 4 wings???

i could really use some help here. i dont have to feed chickens, wash dishes, cook, nothing on tv. my husband is watching rambo for the 100th time. i have nothing to look forward to. lol. What the world am i gonna do in bed for 3 weeks?? no books in the house, i think they would have to be large print anyway.its already driving me nuts. i should of paid more attention when my daddy was trying to teach me how to knit. its hard for right handed people to teach lefties how to do anything because left handed people are in their right mind. (corn joke) i have to find something to hold my interest. i am afraid of those pain pills . i dont want to be in pain and i dont want to take a chance on getting hooked on them. i never have but it must be easy the way there are so many that do fall down that path. not real sure where this is heading except for some ideas. I come here and facebook . thats it. its the world wide web and i have no questions to ask?? stress test in the morning. i have to drive myself fasting and no coffee. i hope my sugar behaves. feel sorry for my husband having to ride shotgun. this is supposed to be chicken talk so i guess i am chicken. I miss my babies. i am out of eggs now and i am not eating them store bought things. i have been ruined on the good stuff. i wormed the hens i have and cant take theirs .they havent really started laying yet anyhow. 1 or 2 a day. none today.
