We have 2 lap/bed dogs, both of them are rescues, Sugar and Foxxy. Foxxy is a 6 pound Chihuaha and not very brave outside of the house. Sugar is an 11 pound Miniature Pinscher and is not afraid of anything. They both love to hog up the couch, chair or bed. Foxxy will not go outside if it is raining, she is our 'girlie' girl. Sugar will gladly run right through the mud to go where he wants, she is our tomboy. :)

Here are my fur babies. My lap is never empty and I love it. :D

Quote: He might be! I looked up small breeds so I could describe him in the lost & found ad, and thought he was too big for a Maltese. Maybe part though. Are they very ferocious? He goes crazy if a raccoon dares come near the yard, and anything else for that matter. Smart though. Learned very quickly that chasing chickens is a no-no.

Ohhh, they look so comfy.  Is that a King Charles?

Yes she is! They are the very best, super cuddly and quiet. Mine is dumb as rocks, but she's sweet enough to make up for it. ;) I can't stand a dog that barks in the house. The other is half Weimaraner and they told us her daddy was "some kind of lab" but I think he may have actually been a pointer. We've had labs before and Jewel has exactly zero lab characteristics. She's a year and a half old, Dolly is almost 5, and that cranky cat just turned 8. Then I've got a 5-year-old daughter, 2-year-old son, and 12 chickens. And the crazy husband who lets me have it all. :D

My Maltese are not ferocious. Maybe the other half of him is a hunter. Maltese are smart but mostly they like to lay around and be cuddled. My Yorkies are the real yappers and for the most part they are the ones who like to run around. Then again, Yorkies are terriers and originally bred for hunting critters. Yorkies are smart too. I have a couple who play hide and seek. LOL I never rough housed with them when they were babies and wouldn't let anyone else do it so all of them, Yorkies and Maltese play very gently.

campingshaws, my sister will be getting a King Charles as soon as she moves into her new house. She worked for a veterinarian, and said they were, without exception, the sweetest dogs coming through the office. Her last dog was 135 lb bullmastiff/Neopolitan mastiff cross. It will be a big change for her!

Sylviaanne, your Maltese sound much nicer than my Scooter! He for sure has some terrier in him, but we really did call him a poodle cross on his license registration.

I have heard there is a DNA testing thing they can do for dogs and tell you what breeds they are. Maybe I can try it!

Granny!!! I've been thinking about you this morning and praying that all is well with you!!

OK, Granny, we are going to ply you with stories. Animal stories, child hood stories, grandchildren, stories about ehere you work........

My first chickens were chickens that I won at some kind of game at the county fair. Two lovely yellow chicks. I didn't have any way to keep them warm other than carry them around in my shirt. Moma wasn't as pleased with them as I was, so they didn't get any feed from the feed store. They got table scraps and bugs and worms. They learned real quick that when I clucked to them it meant food. They feathered out with the prettiest white feathers. One was tall and lanky and immediately started a beautiful red comb. The other chick was kind of short and dumpy. With a much smaller comb, kind of a knot shaped thing, but still bright red. :( In my infinite 7 year old wisdom, I named them Ryan and Ali. I thought they were the most beautiful chickens in the world! Then when Thanksgiving time arrived, my Mom informed me they were both roosters and they had to go. Fortunately, I didn't have to help butcher them........

The next spring , on one of my Grandfather's visitshe brought me a box. A wonderful surprise of a small brownish hen who was mad as hell when I opened the box! She had a whole passle of chicks under her. Love at first site :) He also brought a turkey crate. One made out of wooden dowels. The hen and chicks spent some time in the crate, inside of our barn. I was afraid the chicks would be eaten by our barn cat or squashed by a cow hoof or the pony hooves. Between the two of us we kept all of the chicks alive!

☆☆☆☆☆☆ to be continued☆☆☆☆☆☆

:)
