That's funny Wishing4Wings - I thought it was just my girls that didn't like pumpkin. The little stinkers will eat a little IF I cook it and add oatmeal and maple syrup. Yes, I know - they are spoiled! They do love pomegranates.

Hoping for the best for your little Seramas. Positive thoughts...they will do fine being shipped, they will do fine being shipped, they will enjoy the ride.

Flea markets are the best. It's such fun to see all the different things. I always find things I didn't realize I NEEDED. LOL

My chickens don't like raw pumpkin either. I also thought that I had defective chickens, but then I realised that they were just very very spoiled - I found that if I cooked pumpkin they attacked it like pirhanas! I now cook chunks of marrow, courgette, pumpkin etc and throw them out - they disappear within minutes. They have so much choice in all the food, scraps and free-ranging that they have (1000 square metres of back garden for 8 chickens) that they have become really picky about what they eat!

However, sometimes they throw me a curve ball - they've recently decided to eat sweet (bell) pepper seeds, when a few months ago they wouldn't even touch them. For some reason a flock's tastes seem to change over time - don't ask why - it's just because they're chickens

you feed them what? talk about throwing a curve ball. marrow= bone, courgette=i never heard the word before. lol i think their tastes change depending on what their body is missing

my fathers famous words at the yard sales after you have already been out all day. " they may have just what you always never knew you needed".

RANT of the day !!!

I hobbled out to see the chickens and was very sad at what i saw. if you want something done who do you trust to do it? yourself, no one else. they have no food no water, their water bowls are dusty all 4 of them. the 2 new leghorns have clear snot and are puffed up. and dirty too. i stood there and cried . i was able to throw some corn in there but no water yet. i called the one caring for them and she will be here soon she said. one looks like a really bad case of leg mites. I know the whole coop was dusted but thats all. no eye problems at all thank goodness. so they dont get colds i have been told. but that is what it seems like. a sneeze here and there to clear the sinus.

mrsc, what little bit of family i have left, the most of them live in Fl. Springhill and tampa area. i have a sister that lives just down the road from that place everyone wants chickens and eggs from. my daughter is N.C. and a few in MI. since mom is gone i dont look for any of them to come visit any more. maybe they will surprise me but i doubt it.

good morning monday !!! my babies are supposed to be shipped out today. cant wait. friend came over yesterday and fed and watered and got cage and bator ready. i didnt plug the bator in because the person that borrowed it brought it back filthy ! his hands must of been filthy because in the corners where you lift it open is black. thats probably not coming off. tons of old egg shell inside. geez. only thing i know to clean it with is water and sunshine. dont look like the sun is going to shine today. thats strike #2 for the eggs.
