my computer keeps freezing it must be feeling the pain too. LOL not to get personal but just some food for thought. are you young enough to not go swimming with sharks once a month. sounds to me like you need to hit up them chicken livers.

Granny I rescued a couple chickens from animal center and the hen is missing half her top beak!!!??? It looks like someone took a grinder to it??!! I know she's older but I've never seen one live long enough to wear its beak off?

sounds like a battery hen to me. they do grind them off because they keep them packed in caged like sardines. that way they cant pick each other. as Enola said, as long as it can eat , nothing you can do.

And that, my friends is why we here on BYC incourage others to keep back yard chickens. lets put these guys out of business !!!

candled the few serama eggs i got last night. the oldest one put in on the 28th is very dark the next 2 were blood ring and the other 3 are too young to tell. i got an egg today but i decided to put it in the closet for a few day til i get at least 2 more. if those dont do anything i will take the bator down.

Don't know how you guys handle the cold. I'd definitely need some winter clothes.

It's a rare night that gets into the 20s here, let alone snow. Sure wish it would rain, though. The polar vortex that is freezing everyone else has set up a huge high pressure area over us and keeping our precious rain clouds away.

Enola don't forget the 16 mph gentle breeze we had today also. Found out my chickens like sour milk had almost a gallon of raw milk I got Friday go bad by Monday WE (yes the royal we) are not amused but the hens were delighted. Alas it seems that most of my easter eggers were crossed with brown egg layers, getting and ugly greenish/olive color. Wonder if I scrubb hard enough if I can make them blue?? Have scrubbed brown eggs ivory/white at lest the spot where there were poo stains. LOL Getting flat eggs again strange but nice as they don't roll of the counter. HOpe all is going well for all. funny, i had a whole gallon of milk yesterday go bad too. not sure if the chickens liked it or not because i didnt hang around but the cats were going to town on some . Twist, if you are eating the eggs your not supposed to scrub the color off. unless your eating them right then. all kinds of little microscopic critters can get in there. cant have you getting sick here around the holidays. I am going to make your bread pudding for the holidays. mmmm
