Sorry to hear about your falling and twisting your foot. Might be a good thing it was your bad foot...at least you have one good foot instead of two bad. Yes, the prednisone can delay and slow healing and being a little older, it can take longer to spring back. Sounds like the doctor did a lot of repair in there and that might be why it's taking longer as well. Hope you are back on your feet soon, but try not to do to much too soon.

Your little serama baby is SO cute. Really? the size of a baby parakeet? Wow! We've had a few of those over the years and they are teensy weeny little things. Maybe a medicine bottle top for food and water since he/she is that small. Of course, they just run over it and flip it out... the trials and tribulations of raising babies.

Your incision does look like it is healing pretty well. Happy it is. Skin sloughing from the bottom of your feet could definitely be caused from a drug reaction and possibly the antibiotic. With all they had to do to your foot, I would not push too hard. That was some major surgery and with long term steroid use and diabetes, your healing process can be somewhat delayed. I would not quit seeing the doc until more healing has taken place. JMHO.

DH has always said I had a screw loose. LOL Well, yesterday it was confirmed by x-ray. The plate in my neck had 4 screws and one of them is no longer there. He said it was no big deal and would probably pass on through if it hadn't already.

thank you both, I would give you an ovation but THE MAN says i am over limit. LOL wow, mrsc, you really do have a screw loose. I guess thats not supposed to be funny yet some how i just cant help myself .

baby is fine this morning. still a little wobbly like me. ok gonna tell you guys what happened yesterday. the snow on the ramp out back is 5 inches of compacted ice and snow. and no, i didnt have my boot on. I did however have a pr. of boots on that lace up. you know the kind, the top 2 are hooks instead of holes for the laces?? I had been to the barn and was coming back UP the ramp when the shoelace on one boot caught the hook on the other boot.

it was an instant "lets tie someones shoe laces together" moment except i did it to myself. (sigh) I used to tell my daughter she was the only person i knew that could fall going up stairs instead of down. the apple dont fall far from the tree. mrsc, when you pass that screw where will it go? I have a magnetic screw driver it you need to borrow it? just dont unscrew your belly button, it causes your butt to fall off. omg, I need to stop. was it titanium ? you know, thats expensive metal.

Say there granny the one foot looks not to bad but the other one in the picture definitely needs to be shaved and should it be that color of gray????

Sorry about your friend. Good news on the daughter being home. Home is always best for recovery as long as you do what you are told by the doctor.

This site actually seems to be working today and I can type as fast as my fingers go with no locking up.

hahhaa,, was wondering if any one noticed that. its my cats tail !!! I might need a shave but its not that bad yet !

Hey Granny, I think you should stick with your doc. My hubs was in his 40s, very fit, playing tennis, when he felt and heard what he thought was a hard hit ball whack him on the back of the leg. POP! Next step he tried to take didn't work, and he went down. Turns out his Achilles had completely snapped in two. If it had just been a tear, he would have rehabbed it without surgery. Surgeon wanted him to go slow to keep the sinews from tearing apart before it healed completely, about 4 months. He was told it would be about a year before it would be "good as new." Your problem is much more involved, and I would expect it to take much longer to heal. You have to regrow some bone, which he didn't and you are a bit older than he was at the time. (Although I think we are all about the same age.) Sad thing is the repaired tendon is now stronger than his other, and he is at greater risk for having it snap on the other side.

Doesn't want that, so he quit tennis. Maybe doesn't seem like a big deal, but it was for him. We first met in a tennis class at the local jr college over 30 yrs ago! Gaw, has it been that long?

Is UnAble still flipping on his back? It might be from a vitamin deficiency. Do you have any you can put in his water? If the food is falling through, put it on a paper towel. I had to crush the crumbles to make them small enough for the chicks to eat. You could also wet a bit of food to make it easier for him.

no more flipping. a little wobbly still . i did give it some wet food with a touch of sugar and it has just now started eating good by itself. except for wanting to be on the other side I think it is doing very well. It was a really hard hatch with a little bit of blood loss . the waste that is attached to the cord is stuck to its belly . i used the antibiotic on it but its stuck there and i dont want to try to remove it. its not bothering me and i dont think it will bother the chick. at least i hope not.

Gosh , what a quiet long day ! I have sit so long i have gave myself a rash. working on my late night snack. bacon and mayo sandwich and then i pretend i have a ripe juicy tomato on it. it dont really work. I held the baby for a couple min. today but i was afraid i would hurt him so i put him back. I put the 3 eggs in the bator, sent my husband out to see if the 4th was there( it should of been) and he said no it wasnt so i got my shoes on and went out and got it. it was pretty cold to the touch and i wonder if it will develop if i put it in? it would just be a day behind. I got 8 eggs today. thats doubled. ee definitely laying very light brown eggs so i am going to call them pink like every one else does. I was sitting here in my easy chair earlier and the strangest thing, little brown "floaters" i kept seeing coming down in front of my eyes. I asked my husband if he ever had this, he says no, i have had floaters but they are bright specks. these were brown, soft looking . floating down to me as on a gentle breeze. it went on for half an hr. I thought maybe if i rest my head back and relax for a bit. thats when i seen it ! there was a fly on the ceiling above my head and as it moved around up there it was knocking my dust bunnys down on me.

Oh granny, tripping over dust bunnies! I could use a whole herd of those flies to do some dusting for me. I'm having bacon tonight too, crumbled in some pea soup. (home made on my new magic stove! It works so much better than the old clunker.)
