thank you guys for all the suggestions. I hope they work. I do wonder if seeing the other chicks is helping or not because it just keeps trying to get over there. it dont know its smaller then the others. wish i had one to put with it. I think even a day old bantam would be too much in a couple days . mrsc, do you have to have a screw put back?

I don't think the powdered butter milk would have the live brobiotics in it anymore. Glad the little guys still hanging in there!

No, doc said it isn't a big issue since the other 3 are securely in place and it's just a tiny thing anyway. Sounds like your little guy is doing what he can if he want's to be with the others. I think that sounds like a good sign.

Just want to say that I hope everyone who has been caught in this nasty weather is doing ok. All that snow, wow.

Hi Granny. How are you doing today? How's little Unable? We had a good bit of rain yesterday, which is badly needed. Today is overcast, gray and dark. Makes me want to hibernate! My garage pullets were happy to get out today.

hey all, busy day and i am just a little tired. LOL grocery's, feed store again, hallmarks. love that store !! big lots. so i was looking for a tree doodad to remind me or i dont know why exactly, for my mom. all the stores just didnt have what i wanted. oh ya, and lowes. I walked into hallmark and the lady says is there something i can help you find? I told her i was looking for something that said mom or the yr 2014 . she said all of them say that and i do have some that say mom. she walks me over there and the very first one i see is an angel wings and says, mom, the love always carry's on. or something like that. (too tired to go look) . I wasnt expecting what happened next. the tears just started flowing. I said this will be the last Christmas gift i ever buy my mom. I couldnt even talk til i got out of there and to the van and then i really broke down. I just wasnt expecting it i guess. ended up buying cornish rock for thanksgiving. I dont even know what day it is. lol OK, to the baby, I am very worried about him. he cries and sleeps. he has learned my hand is a nice place to be and i got to hear the trill today. sweet sound.I bought some yogurt for him today and he was kinda forced to eat it seeing as how it was sink or swim. seems as if he might have some congestion. sneezing a little so i (dont laugh) still have my daughters Gerber baby spoon and that is what i used to feed him with. he swallowed about 3 times. he is so tiny i cant see his nostrils. had an idea about a feather duster , hang it from the cage to where the feathers touch the floor. i dont know if chemicals are used in them or not. I made a fake mama once before from styrofoam ball and guinea feathers (hard ones) on the outside then soft ones working there way in. they loved it and used it often. I dont want these babies exposed to my outside chickens. LOL ANY suggestions on getting it to eat would be appreciated. my eyes are not going to let me tube it. it is just too tiny. if its not better by the morn. i am going to see if i can find a vet.

Sounds like a really neat ornament Granny. I got one the first Christmas after my mom passed that said she is spending Christmas with Jesus this year from my Aunt, I loved it, it felt like it was from my Mom. It's been since 2003 for me and I'll have a thought or something will be said like snapping green beans and hear come the tears.
Not good the little guys sneezing anything around him that could be making him sneeze? Dusty, perfume, cleaning products, mold, near where you do laundry? Does the area he's in have good venalation? I sent some eggs to a gal that lost the chicks due to mold in the window sill and no venalation in the room the vet found mold in their lungs. I hope no germs from the other chickens came in on your cloths or hair or something. Are you outside chickens showing any symptoms?
When I feed my newly hatched silkies I take my rolling pin and crush it really small and put a dish in by them and sprinkle it all around on the paper towlel I have them on and they can see it really good that way and start to peck it. I make some of it into a nice wet mash. Hope he starts eating ok. Are you putting the electrolytes for chicks in the water?

i swear, this site runs so slow some times that by the time i can reply i have forgotten half of what was said. my outside chickens are fine. they dont seem to be in a dusty place but i didnt think i was either till the fly started dropping dust bunnies on me. I have put it in a small box with low sides this morning so it is surrounded with food. I gave it some yogurt this morning with the rooster booster sprinkled on top. i didnt put any food in it this time and it drank it pretty well, better then yesterday. I just kept its beak in there and it started swallowing. did that about 4 times. by the way, did you know if you put yogurt on a spoon with a little crumble and leave it under a heat lamp over night it makes super glue ? it is almost impossible to scrape off. how long can a chick survive on yogurt? it just dont want to peck at anything. thats really nice about the ornament suzierd. ya, i wasnt expecting that at all. at least i know its normal and will more then likely happen again. thank you.

I never heard of anyone giving yogurt to a newly hatched chick I hope that's ok, I have always read if given anything other then chick starter make sure they have grit. Do you make the chick food real soupy and stick his beck in it? Maybe put your smallest silkie in with him just long enough to see it eating and put some sloppy mash down right before you put the Silkie in so its interested in the food not him. I'm starting to worry about him not getting good chick food in him. You could try making it so funny you can suck it up with a eye dropper and put a drop along side his beak, he should eat it. Just a little at a time give a break and do it again.

Can you put a little rooster booster in the water for him to drink instead of on the yogurt.
