Hi Granny, I have been reading lots of your post recently, you are an extriodinary person. You remind me a lot of my own dear Granny that passed away many years ago. My husband & I spent so much time with her when our children were young. She was the most special woman. Her daughter, my Mom is such a special person too, I love her dearly. I hope things start looking up for you & your family, you deserve it.
thank you , you make me blush. always show your mom the love !

Do you have any extra chicken wire laying around you can block a corner off with. I have those metal dog fences you can put together they work great for that then chicken wire over the top.
I have tons of chicken wire , staple it from one corner to the next ok but what about the top? I am really being dense . I just dont see it i guess. if i drape it over the top and just pick it up when i need to reach them? its 4ft. and sharp

[/quote]I do, she is such a special lady and my hubby loves her like she's his mom too. My mom & I have even taken some 10 day road trips together, just us girls. One trip we even took my 10 year old granddaughter with us.

3 generations together on a road trip. sounds nice. I was at one time able to have 4 generations together and almost 5 . lol the women in my family always lived a long strong life. my mom was the baby and although she was the last of them she still died early for their ages. my grandmother was born in 1899 and she lived a good clean life. I loved her dearly. she died in 1992 one yr before my son was born. my aunts all lived well into their 90s except mom. 1934-2014 . how i would love to have that trip to go back over again.

It was an amazing trip, we traveled over 2000 miles, stopping wherever we felt like to sight see, plus visited family in Missouri & Tennessee. We have many occasions that the 4 generations are together. I dread the day that that isn't possible. In fact my mom was suppose to be in the delivery room with me & Hubby when my oldest was born, but I ended up having to have a C-section. But God works in mysterious ways, a year ago Dec 2nd she got to watch her great grandson being born. I was happy for her company because it had been a high risk pregnancy for my daughter and it turned out to be a high risk birth as well.

Sorry for the loss of your Mom this year, that's got to be tough.

thank you, that it is. very hard. so, what type of fowl do you keep ? I used to live in MI. for 25 yrs. its where my children were born. I am trying hard right now for seramas. not having any luck so far.

Thanks bunches for all the good wishes! I lied and said I felt better yesterday just to make myself get up and about but paid for it dearly last night. Today however, I do feel just a little bit better so am hoping for the best!

I used to take road trips with my Mother and daughter and we always had lots of fun. My Mother passed away young - she was just 72 but had cancer. In her absence, my older brother (by 15 years) and I have become "road buddies" and have taken a number of trips together and I just love it. Next fall we are going to Branson, MO probably by way of Texas to visit cousins. Lots of driving and I do the majority of it but it is fun to just talk and reminisce. My sister in law is going to join us for the upcoming one. He is a Navy submarine veteran and we are going to a reunion for one of his subs.

Lularat - I hear you. Back pain is miserable - you just can't get comfortable. I've had one hip done and both shoulders. Not looking forward to anything else!

Check craigslist, Granny - maybe you can find something there if not on ebay. It shouldn't need to be leather, right? Not sure how widespread it is but you might also check freecycle.com. I'm not going to mention the eggs in the bator....

Hoping to get the rest of my candy made tomorrow and in the mail...

mrsc, I am so sorry you are still feeling bad. you shouldnt be making candy til you are better. you sound like me, cant sit still long enough to get better. no, we wont talk about the eggs for a few more days any how. LOL 5 max. I bought a ham for Christmas but that was all i did. I just cant do the store. I do wonder if my son will ever get the urge to drive. probably not. yes, he does want leather in the coat. its not a game he is playing so i have no clue plus he has wanted this for a few yrs. now. he has never cared about how he looks . he wears a hoodie all winter long. he collects swords so maybe he has a highlander thing going on?

Hi Granny, I have a mixture of birds, lots of mutts, but I love them any how. I have a total of 26 birds at the moment, 24 hens & 2 roosters. I have leghorn, BR, EE'S, BO, RIR, Cochinn mixes, Chantacler, SB, Isa Browns. Nothing fancy, I've had BCM & some wynadotts, but not anymore. I've got a bunch of barnyard mixes in the incubator right now & some shipped eggs. Currently I've been throwing more of those away :( Last night I had to get rid of the 5 silkie eggs I had ordered for my granddaughter. I wish everyone packaged as well as one lady I got Heritage RIR eggs from. Ordered 6 eggs, she sent 8 very, very well packaged eggs. On day 7, 7/8 of the eggs had embryos growing. I received a dozen of eggs from one man that listed as being NPIP on the auction & his ratings were high. Could not believe it. The eggs came in a cardboard egg carton broke in half with bubble wrap sat on top of the eggs inside of the cartons. Eggs were broken, goop from yoke covered the eggs, plus they were covered with heavy poop. So sad, he finally emailed me back 2 days later & told me to take a picture of the broken eggs & that he would replace those. Dude the shipment of eggs were covered in goopy egg mess. I had to wash the existing eggs just so I could put them in the incubator. I haven't had a very positive experience with shipped eggs so far this hatch. Sorry to read about all your trials with incubating lately. What kind of poultry do you have & how many? Where abouts in Michigan did you live before?
