At the next vet's office, I walk in, tell them my kitty is sick. They smile and say we are here to help! The vet examined her while I filled out the paper work. Diagnosis- bladder infection. Paid the bill, got the medication explained to me, out the door in 10 minutes. Got to the car, erased the other vet's phone number, put this vet's number on my contacts list. Got home, let the cat out of the crate, went in the house to fix medicine dose. Now I can't find the cat. All of this excitement only cost me $74.

$74 and a big chunk of your afternoon. Glad you found a reasonable vet and hope your kitty gets well soon. If you can find her!

Reasonable vets are hard to come by in my area. My big old dog snapped her ACL (ligament) in her knee a few years back. Vet examines her (under sedation! $$$) to be able to tell me this and then says the surgery to fix it is about $3500. With a little chuckle, I said that my husband lives with the same condition without surgery so we'll see how the dog does. I rehabbed her at home. She's 11 now and can walk and run just fine. The same vet told me he discoverd a dead fang he during a dental cleaning a few years before the broken ligament thing. Did you pull it out? I asked. No, we don't do that anymore, he said. You need to schedule an appointment for her root canal.

I said sure, as soon as hubby gets his new crown and son gets his braces. Belle still has the dead tooth and it doesn't bother her a bit.

Don't get me wrong, I've spent over $1500 on her the last few years. She has some skin allergy problem that causes terrible infections. It always flares up on the weekends, so I pay for emergency care (which is not much more than the regular vet

).

But the leg works well enough to patrol the property.

And the tooth works good enough to chew on Scooter's head!

It's a real shame. The first vet is a very good vet, but, I have zero tolerence for idiot office bunnies! The second vet gave me medicines for her. He did mention that I would have to change her diet.

I would make a point of sending a personal note to said vet about your experience - Ms. Beaming Smile may have a different demeanor around him and he may not know she is driving away business.

The vet is female. I really like her, she is not all fancy schmancy looking. She looks just like she would be on the ground helping pull a calf in a difficult delivery......strong farm woman look about her! I will give her a call in a day or two. You are right, she may appreciate a wake up call!

She gets grain free stuff. Beef and sweet potato, or chicken and pea, or turkey and something I can't remember. It's Nature's Domain from Costco. Oddly, she only has the problem in late spring to early summer. The food doesn't seem to matter much for her, but I keep it up because I think it's better for her. One vet is thinks it might be something in the spring environment, but none of the vets are sure and no one agrees. I think it's some auto-immune problem. It's only been a problem the last few years and I'm figuring out prevention strategies. Last spring wasn't too bad. Had one abscess under her jaw that wouldn't resolve. They thought to just flush it out and put her on antibiotics, only to find there was not much of a pocket. Mostly a solid swollen mass. Much scratching of heads and shrugging of shoulders. Took about 3 weeks after she finished the antibiotics before it went away. Emergency vets gave me the option of a huge battery of tests, but did not recommend it because they doubted the answer would be found and didn't want to waste my money (on such an old dog, was implied.) They didn't say that in front of the dog, of course!

I think we all agree vets are outrageous . they charge as much as your dr. and then some. then they will throw the guilt at you for not doing every possible thing they want you to do. If you cant afford 4000.00 dollars in dental then you shouldnt own animals. heard that one ? They are not all like that. some do still care for the person as much as the animal. they are just few and far between. Maybe thats why we like chickens ? they get real sick and we can just chop their heads off and eat them !! hahahaa Kidding, Dont eat sick chickens.

we all need to open our mouths a little more often. when you are treated like crap, tell em you dont appreciate it . tell them you hope they have a better day then they have gave you.

Nice looking dogs Wishing. my frosty is terrible. I called star up to me and was petting her and frosty hit her from behind . she was doing the nasty and now my wrist hurts. Pretty sure she knows she is not dominate now.

So, let me get this right. I have to pay for updating shots she already has, updating her rabies shot that she already has, the office visit, exam ans medications in order to get her seen?

Another beaming smile, yes you will....... OR you could go home and bring them back with you...... Beaming smile......

So, I tell her she can tell her boss that I said she lost a patient because of her beaming smile!

On the way out the door I cast my beaming smile on her.......
Good for you enola!
