Watermelon..sounds like you have things planned out well. I'm fairly new to chickens as well. My girls will be 2 yrs. on April 1st and I have really enjoyed them....they are quite spoiled.

I posted this in the LA thread but none of us know what frostbite looks like

Is that what it looks like to y'all? I slathered him in coconut oil and put him in the hospital because the hens pick it. His comb never turned the brownish like I've seen in pictures of frostbite.

We had a series of hard freezes when the temps got to the low 20s. I do t even know if that's cold enough for frostbite? But I can't figure out what else it might be.
