I have had chickens 50+ years and can not understand why any one would bathe a chicken . . . . .

Well if you had seen my poor little white silkie after she tried to walk on water in the mucky pond you'd change your mind. Poor little thing was all mud & slime. She seemed to like it & she sure smelled better afterwards. I kept her warm till she was dry.

Neither did the neighbors who moved here from NY. It was the 70s & they had PAID at the fair to see chickens with fur. Lol

They are cute & make great little automatic incubators.

Okay... No reason one can't bathe a healthy, fat chicken, but the one that was bathed is quite ill.

I don't think they knew better & were just trying to make it feel better. What's the first thing you do to a puked on sick person? You clean them up.

I guess what I should have said is " I see no reason to bathe chickens in my world ".

But! I forgot about show chickens.
And I probably would bathe a chicken that was full of slime.......
