Granny haven't you ever heard the saying wait till your father gets home?

I don't remember my dad ever hitting me but if I didn't listen to him I was threatened with the razor strop. I was scared of that thing.

Mom on the other hand wore her hand out on my backside. She used a switch cut from the hedge and I'd get it across the back of the legs. That's because I could outrun her. A 3 foot quarter inch switch was a great equalizer. Since I was stubborn I had a lot of welts on my legs.

And teachers could still beat you in public school. And did. All the time. And when you got home you got it again.

I did cut that hedge to the ground as soon as I found out I was pregnant.

no i dont guess i have. i was never whipped except for a smack from a teacher and she got herself in trouble. messed with the wrong mama. LOL I dont really hold with whipping. I did my son a couple times when he was small til i found out he couldnt help what he was doing. talk about feeling like a donkey. the one smake on the butt through the diaper thing. never again.

Lol. I deserved everything I got. I'll have to ask my kids what they thought of the discipline they got. I spanked DHs and he spanked mine. His ex came and complained after I spanked her youngest (4-5) for writing on the back of my cloth car seats in ink. I told her if she wrote on my seat again I would spank her again as I wasn't going to put up with any kid not listening. I also broke that same one of whining. And if you couldn't touch one you could still make them sit in time out or in a corner.

And before you think I'm an ogre. My idea of a beating was a smack or 2 on the rear. No marks. No permanent psychological scars. Funny thing was all the kids that gave everybody else fits didn't give me problems. And they kept coming back. And they still visit.

I dont think you an ogre at all . ( I hope thats spelled right ) I have seen kids whipped with belts and limbs though and Its never done around me twice. My sister beat some womand *** a long time ago in a K mart for how she was hitting her kid and i would too. Children can have things explained to them about why its wrong to do something and time outs. 9/10 times that fixes the problem. if you know the why then you can figure out the stop.

We give warnings, then a 1-2-3 count, then sit on the fireplace, and if they holler they have to go to their rooms. Spankings (swats on the bottom) are more of a quick "pay attention or else" sort of thing. True punishment (for misbehavior at school, hitting, etc) is usually a talking to and either room time or loss of screen time, or loss of dessert. My kids are stubborn and inquisitive. I don't mind most questions, but I don't think "pick up toys" needs any further explanation.
