from what I have read you can expect 10 to 20% less eggs in their 2nd laying cycle and the just keep reducing by about the same amount after each molt. Whick means my 3 year old brahma's are laying about 120 eggs a year not enough to justify their keep other then a few favorites. Juilette gets to stay.
I got my sussex last October. Not a single egg from them til about April. They were bullied by some mean white layers, and had pretty bad fowl pox through December-January, but still... Seems to be their trend.
They're finishing up a molt, so I'm thinking with a little protein and a little light maybe I can get enough to full my last two orders, give the pullets a little jump start, and then let everyone rest for the winter.
