I freely admit the weather can be "challenging" but IMH well worth it. Unfortunately land/house/rent prices a still through the roof up here in most of the western half of the state. Just how small town did you want to go. There are some places here that you can still pick up lots or homes just for paying the back taxes. They might need a lot of work though.

besides in the cold its hard to decide if they are wearing that many layers of clothing or if it is all them in there.

It's a bit tuffer for those of us carrying a beer keg around the wind ill just go right up your coat. Also we have a "lazy wind" a lot that is the type that blows right through you instead of going around you.

1 flannel nightgown and no socks to bed is like sexy undies to some here in the winter.

Same here! I think I could afford to run a small ac in summer here for the price of how many winter clothes I'd need to be comfy. Walking would be hard with 20 layers on.

Well the electric bill at the farm dropped by over $50.00 in one month from not needing that AC so much.
