How old are the eggs? I would candle to make sure the six you choose aren't at different stages of development. I had a broody take over a nest that was abandoned by a different broody. Some eggs were a week behind. She killed every single chick that hatched "early" by her estimates. When the rest hatched a week later, she was an excellent mother. So now I make sure the eggs aren't that staggered.you know it does mare

If she's only been setting a few days you might not see any development yet. Maybe the black dot, or some veining.
