They were put here for us to eat. No I wouldn't just kill to be killing. I plan on culling some roos if I get to many.Look I know you guys love your critters I have seen y'all post some of the extremes that each of you have went to for them an I can appreciate y'all for that I don't condone killing for killings sake but I do harvest some of my animals for food I buy no meat from stores I raise hogs, cows, sheep and goats, and of course chickens I don't do it for money and I don't sell eggs or birds I do it to feed my families my animals are well cared for and are humanely dispatched I don't form the bonds y'all do well except I may have to clone one little rooster my 2yo has adopted if and when it goes by way of old age . She has to see Charlie as soon as she gets up and makes sure he's on his roots at night. I hope I never have to explain where our meat comes from to her LOL
it's hard to explain to a child sometimes. The number one reason I will have a hard time is my 7 year old who is an animal loving boy. He freaked out when we were talking about it. Not doing it for money.. doing it to feed 14 people.
you sound smart enough to me.I had a glorious Thanksgiving thank you for asking Seems from what I've read yours was good too and yes I do raise 4 gobblers a year just for Thanksgiving and Christmas. When I was deemed disabled I had to make some choices and one was I would determine what we put in our bodies my wife is dead set against feeding our kids junk that passes for food nowadays . Now I'm not gonna tell you we never eat out but we don't much. most of the time if we eaT out means we eat outside here at home . My wife has grown children but I married late in life and we have a10yo boy and a 2yo girl. Living like this is not hard but our home is paid for our vehicles are paid for . We live frugally my feed bills are offset by the fact we don't have to buy any meat very few vegetables we do buy flour, sugar, and other staples. The guy that harvest and packages my meat barters for his services. And yes it's all about being happy we home school our children . I'm not smart enough but I am acquainted with several folks that are .

So glad for Mike enola.Good morning. I hope everyone had a better thanksgiving than I did. Update on Mike..... Wednesday, the dr at the hospital called me and asked me to come to the hospital. Mike's kidneys quit working Tuesday night, so they went ahead and admitted him. Somehow they got them started working again. They needed an updated list of all the medications he was taking. I went home and gathered them all up. After we revised the list, the dr informed me that he was taking at least two medications that were conflicting with other medications the QUACK prescribed to him. He is now in a detox center, so they can clean up all of the chemicals in his body, re-prescribe new medications and send him home. The team of drs at the hospital are confident that with proper care from a new team of drs he will make a full recovery. The damage to his kidneys is not permanent, his liver is functioning normally and his diabetes is under control. He will be treated by a liver specialist, a heart & lung specialist, and a diabetes specialist while he is there. He will NOT be going to see the quack again. I had two Drs tell me they are simply amazed that he is still alive. Now that I have him taken care of, the move to PA is back on track. Megan has rented a house, I have a telephone interview this afternoon with a Wal-Mart 10 minutes away from the house. I hope to be moved before Christmas and have Mike near the drs that he needs. Since I will be packing and working, I will not be able to keep up with the thread. Everyone feel welcome to pm me. Mike is amazed by all of the well wishes from a group of people that don't even know him. Thanks for all of the prayers.
