Yep, the 2 females in with broody momma & babies took over rearing Fiona's first hatch this summer when she kicked them to the curb at 5 weeks. Its cute as ever seeing Fiona sharing her babies. The problem with Dot though is she hasn't figured out how to be a good broody yet. She just sits on an empty nest while the egg can be right next to her. Going to give her a trim today to see if that helps HaHa

Is Dot young? Is she ok if you put them under her? Or is she just not liking the eggs?
Dot is young, she's like 7-8 months old. She just isn't seeing the eggs or something. I've went out there numerous times & she will be in the nest box sitting, but not on the egg. I've tried moving her to her own area, but she won't stay on the nest. I think its just confusion because she's wanting to sit, but she is also helping with young ones already.

camping,

you could go with a tinted stain on the exterior.

make it look rustic, and still protect the wood.

x2. I've thought of that, a nice deep teal.

You guys can't vote in advance! What of it's ugly and only paint can save it?

hahahaaa, it wont be..  and do you want to keep up painting every few yrs. ?

Of course I do! Haven't you learned that I never do things the easy way?

I can't wait for the tin roof! I can't wait for the windows! I can't wait for the nest boxes and roosts! I can't wait to plant all around!

I haven't decided if we should paint or leave it rustic. Maybe I'll put it to a vote?

stain .
Stain, seals but still reveals the wood

If its just newly built it won't be ugly wood.

We're using pallets on the walls.

Then we paint it peuce.

Hi granny! *hugs!* keep on trucking with that refrig-o-brooder ;)

Alright. Now I should shower and get going. Not going to be a fun commute today...

GAG.

looks very nice, but you can still see the wood grain.

I hate seeing painted wood, that was meant for the grain to be exposed.

what type of siding?

cedar plank and batten?

Confused.com she is then! Still plenty of time for her to get it right in the future.
