Hey Granny, keep meaning to say something - I have a few "extra" birds in my order that is coming in a couple of weeks - including a few extra Easter Eggers, so if you want a blue layer I might be able to hook you up. We ordered extra of everything so that we could allow for oops males and with the EE and SS so we could pick out the ones we like most as they grow and get their colors/patterns. On the flipside, if you didn't want to wait for these to grow out I have a couple of EE just a bit over 18 months (just had their first molt this fall and have come back into laying in the last couple of weeks) that I am trying to talk the kids into letting me cycle out of the flock - both lay pretty, blue eggs.

some how this statement tickles me. That you use a sound spelling Pfft, in the same sentence as saying Words are your lifeblood.    hehee

I think she s speaking of the Bible s words.

Say, Granny, did you see that the Avian Influenza (new strain) is back in Indiana? Turkey farm is "depopulating" 60,000 birds....KY has put their bird ban back in place (just dropped theirs in the last few weeks), reckon IN will be following suit soon.....so much for swaps, fair, etc. again this year I guess......

No, just saying I have a degree in journalism and had enough credits for a degree in English but university shenanigans, so no double degree. So Red's statement about southerners didn't apply.

Of course, my dad always says that English is his second language, that southern is his first. Wish y'all could meet him when he gets on a tear. Very quiet, soft-spoken man until he starts preaching, then he can rattle the rafters. And he can turn a phrase.

Funny, just last night the topic of bedtime stories came up and DS says to me, "You never read me bedtime stories"......um, wow, guess all those nights spent reading a book before bed were for nothing, darn kid doesn't remember any of it.........
