Mare, did you have your skype interview ? what chickens did you order ? I know you told me but I have forgotten already.

Skype-ing tomorrow afternoon - either way we will be moving, just be VERY soon if skype situation works out or before fall if it doesn't. Either outcome means having to change our animal situation, so figured better to start working on it now to give me time to find the right situation for everyone. Think I found a family that might be right for Jethro, meeting with them this weekend to see if everyone clicks.
The order *should* be speckled sussex, barred rock, white leghorn, silver laced wyandottes and easter eggers -- intent was to reset the flock so that I could hatch the any of the brown eggs layed and get BSL, RSL or SS chicks with the EE for pretty eggs and the WL for pure production. With the actual move up in the air still I figure I'll go ahead and get them and raise them up as long as we're here - chickens aren't that hard to move around here I've noticed, so I'm not too worried about being able to clear them out quickly when the time comes.

That depends - in the short term no chickens. If the skype situation works out I'll have chickens (and goats and a cow), if not then it'll be a while until we get settled (likely staying with family for a couple of months while we get jobs/living situation settled) but DH has even said he wants to end up in a situation where we can at least have a few chickens (luckily the area is very chicken friendly even within the city limits of the areas we are looking at).

They'll both be back later. I'm here trying to stay awake. Guess I should finish loading the dishwasher and run it. That will keep me awake! Pizza night tonight. Papa Murphy's has Tuesday special, $10 for any large. Of course their idea of large is not quite the same as mine, but if it cuts down on my having to cook, I will keep that to myself!

i'm ok sad of course.yes they have a big family and lots of friends,they were elderly..they are trying to find the cause of the fire.the house in front of them burned too.but no one was hurt there..a pizza delivery guy was going home around midnite he saw they flames and woke her,the other house was behind hers she rented from them..

LOL, I hear you there - I was the "good Marine wife" for many years ironing uniforms every Sunday evening so DH was squared away and ready for the week (never got the hang of rolling his sleeves, though, during "sleeves up") -- the invention of the "wash and wear" cammies was the best thing to happen to me, lol.

Hi Mare! That's great if you've already got someone interested in Jethro. Besides him and the chickens (and horse going to DD) what other critters do you have to give up? At least you have the future to look forward to getting some more chickens.

Nice sunny day so I let the Seramas out to roam. I have 10 of them plus one banty cochin in with them. Went back up to check on them since the dogs were barking, and only saw the rooster outside with one tiny hen. No one else was in sight!

Checked in the coop, could it be...? Could 9 little hens all be setting in 3 little nest boxes at the same time? Yes.

I know 5 of them have been broody. Hoping the other 4 were just visiting or adding some eggs.

Ben has gone to his new home. Very nice couple with kids. Turns out they're hunters too! I think it's going to work out well.

That must put your mind at ease.

NOW camping since you did this 3 days before the "deadline" can you save those days for the next deadline you get ???

very bummed to see you go Mare. It is selfish of me because I know how much you miss "home". I hope Jethrow gets a great home. he is a fine looking dog. I still miss Lily lots and I didnt have her very long. I might be interested in a couple SS hens when the time comes and will you sell your water/feed ect.. things ?
