I'm three hours from day 19 but haven't put them in lockdown yet. I unplugged the turner this morning, but they're still upright in the bator, low humidity. Is it going to mess them up to lay them down now?

@Sally Sunshine @LocalYokel

19 may be too late and you'd get a lotta malpositions
Maybe keep upright in cartons for lockdown??

I haven't done anything. Experimenting with better methods for upping humidty because the 6 jars I used last time made me a nervous wreck. Grew a migraine that I'm trying to shake before I box up these wild heathens and dump them in the woods. You know: the usual.

I think she didnt catch your question and responded to mine instead.  If you dont want to lay them down you can use an egg carton. I did one . cut a hole off the bottom.

@Sally Sunshine said to lay them down. At this point I almost don't care because I can't win either way. If I lay them down and get a bad hatch, then I'll think it was from not leaving in cartons. If I hatch in cartons and it goes bad, then I'll be mad I didn't hatch laying them down.

This is already the hatch I've totally neglected. I'll detail more after we see how it goes.

Camping, prop them up about half way ?

wonder how much I could sell my bator for ? Cant believe I killed another batch at lock down. Enola, Thank you for the info. I cant control the temps on this by one degree with them in it. It took me a week to get it right on 100. I know I didnt want these chicks but I sure didnt want to kill them. I had pretty good hatches with my very first incubator. No turner either. was easier to regulate . I need one of those digital thermostats.

$16. Wiring was a little complicated, but video tutorials helped. I love mine.

you sound like me! I needed to lockdown and only just did too! lol its not a big deal either way, its shown they hatch faster when touching together. I prefer horizontal for all incubation to be honest, but I can hand turn I am home. Good luck!

we might be talking about 2 different things because its not $16. the think that sets your temps like a wafer thermostat but digital. Push a button to the temp you want/need.
