Portland is a normal journey for all of us in western Washington.. Actually Oregon is closer to us the those that live in eastern Washington.

Mare, aren't you originally from the NW... Can't remember who was... Be prepared for lots of rain.

Yes, the NW is "home" - I was born and raised in Idaho (visited Portland 1-2x a year due to family there) and moved to Oregon (McMinville about an hour south of Portland) when I was 19, lived there for five years. DH's parents have never lived anywhere but the Portland area, my mom has been there since we moved when I was 19 and my sister and her kids moved out there about 10 years ago. I'll take the rain out there over the winters and summers out here ANY day!
well since i finished work i get depressed some times i find it hard to cope with not working
anyway no matter take no notice of me it cheers me up talking to you and granny

Are there any volunteer opportunities that you might find a calling in - that can help give a person a sense of purpose again when they aren't currently working and is often more easily worked around other things in your schedule.

that is sweet Linda. I hope she is close enough to visit you. Who knows, she may be the one that gets to meet us all in person ?

Hmmmmm, time to plan my trip out there to make the most Granny thread stops possible?????? I'd do it, but not sure I'd sell DH on the idea, he's definitely a "make good time" sort of traveler....no time for silly things like visiting.....or rest stops, lol, the trip from OR to NC for our first move was an adjustment for him - all of the sudden he was road tripping with a 4 year old and a pregnant wife, he learned about making potty stops, lol.
