I have heard of plenty of chickens being egg bound but how did you tell the difference ?

the way i could tell, her little vent was sticking out and she was straining to poop..she is right beside my computer so i can see everything they do..she's only 2 weeks old so i knew it couldn't be an egg..

That can happen when they eat too long of grass or hay with not enough grit... Had to pull poop out of a chick before... Gross. A tangled mass of grass!

they haven't been outside.i thought maybe she ate too much sand..and they have grit in the cage..

I went to check water in the hona pen and Lagertha was off the nest. There were three eggs and one zipper left. She stood up and the chicks fell out from under her wings. :lau

I was worried she was done, but after some water she got back on. The babies couldn't, so I tossed them in and she bit me each time. :rant

I tried to get a pic of the fluffy butts but they're fast! You can see she's SO MAD at me! :lau
