The last EE is a charmer hu ? were they straight run ?

This reminds me of when Mike & I visited his sister one time. She always has to cook a 5 course layout to try to impress me. Anyway, she is cutting up a chicken to fry for dinner and makes a remark about how she cannot figure out how a farmer can make any money raising chicken. I asked her what she meant. She said something about how long they have to feed them to get 89 cents a pound for them. So I asked her how old she thought that fryer was when it was butchered? She said she didn't know.... How old? When I told her probably only 7 or 8 weeks, I thought she was going throw up.

Her eyes got huge and she says, "Jesus Christ! It is still a farking baby!"

It must be nice to be so niave......

hahahaa Right ? I remember when I found out about those little "game birds " they sell at the grocerys. I thought it was something besides a chicken. I found out it was the cornish at like 3 weeks old I stopped eating them. hahaa

Thank you and your welcome, I love the last one, praying girl but could be male. Either way, I am keeping it, Just will have to hide it...

They were straight run, they had barred rocks just 2 days before but switched them with orpingtons later. I did try to pick females, but can't really tell as chicks. The place where i keep the horse should be able to take any unwanted roos though.

I like the name Thunder.

Oh, I love the little cornish hens. That is what we eat for the holidays.

We do too. Now.... hahahaa Last ones I bought I swore I wouldnt buy them again . It was an off brand from wal-mart and every one of them ( 3 ) had broken legs and I am assuming it was from how they culled them.
