I know rassberries  put "fruit" on the second year wood.    So if they ate everything down to the ground last year there would be no fruit this year.   Grows first year fruit second year and then that "stalk"  dies.

DH mows them down pretty often. He must've let them winter over last year. Last summer he also mowed down my sassafras. :rant This year I see three trying to come up so I'll be marking them VERY WELL.

I know that some breeders promote and sell Yak bull for the express purpose of cross breading with cattle (especially heifers) but from what I have read the yak bulls have to be raised with cattle then in order for them to associate "real cows" as desirable ?? For me that would open up a whole mess of problems starting with not enough land. So I just need to make sure mine are "pure" and I am good to go.
