I love mine! I saw the farm lady up the road has white ones, I'm going to call her for keets or eggs. Eggs would be fun.

Speaking of, I've noticed my hens laying around while the cocks stand near by. Are they starting to nest? I don't know when they start laying... I guess I need to devote a day to following guineas around.

I THINK its lat spring to early fall they lay.  It sounds like a courtship to me.

DH and I are sitting here watching tv and a guinea crashed into the back door. I run out with a flashlight and they're just running round and round the coop. One chasing, then they switch. Then they all four bump chests and flap and two start chasing again. Usually it's three chasing one and it doesn't look fun. Is this also courtship?

They say keets are not hardy at all as babies . They cant get wet, even their feet or they chill easy and die quickly. So a lot of them are lost as babies just by free ranging them with mama. But, as they are older they are supposed to be very hardy. More so then chickens. I hatched and raised for a while and dint have problems But they claim mother hens are the worst mamas there can be so I either pulled the chicks or incubated. I only lost one and that was because I dropped a rock on its head.

yes, they are picking who will be daddy . hens also have a say in the matter. LOL you probably wont see them mate. I never did. Not like a rooster. all day every day. they hide for the most part. Did you ever get them a mirror ? So funny.

I still can't tell who's what out there. The head cock is the biggest, but the others all look the same. I can't even hear their noises. :/
