how does anything survive with no rain ?
I dont know how much we get but its been a lot this year.
Trees have very deep roots and not many deciduous types. Leaves are waxy or leathery to prevent water loss. Small annuals have fat tap roots like a carrot (california poppy, chicory, mustard weed, plantain) which gives them a longer season. All else grows, blooms and reseeds very quickly. No green grass starting in June until about November, if it's warmish. We don't dream of a white Christmas, we dream of a wet Christmas!
