Some people near us were tearing down an older house (circa 1965) to build a new fancy schmancy house. They donated/arranged with our volunteer fire dept to burn the house so the fire fighters could have a good practice. I think a lot of other crews came as well. They would set part of it on fire and put it out, let it burn, put it out. I think they spent 2 full days on it before it was burned to the ground.

they have good practice . They would do that for you too if you wanted . too bad you cant carry insurance on it first. LOL

That's too bad. The older homes have more charm than the newer cookie cutter homes.

We could see it on a hill across the valley. They spread the word so 911 wouldn't get overloaded. We get spooked really easily over smelling smoke. The bomber planes get out here fast if there is even a small problem.

You feeling any better?

I am tired. We spent about 3 hours walking around looking at darling mini horses and then went over to my sisters and helped her with some things at her place. Now I have to get dinner ready and hubs is gone, so no help.

For once I was hoping for 30 pages to have to catch up. Feels so good to sit down, but I can feel the blood settling, so I better get up quick or I won't be able to!

Quote: You'd have to see this place to appreciate what I'm saying. The one time I was there, in '06, there was so much junk & just plain trash laying around that it was literally hard to see the ground. Papa's probably driven within 50' of the gate & not known it. It got to the point that the Alexander Co. taxes were all on me; none of the other three have a pot to pee in, let alone a window to throw it out of. Well, it's not quite that bad, but not far from it.

Quote: I am / was; two sisters, the brother & I...from Dad's estate. With that falling-down house on it, the R.E. people figure it's only worth about $4k. Best thing that could happen to that place is a 5 gal can of gas & a match

We tried that, through dear brother (the only one in that area); never heard another word about it.
