Jr and sr high this week. Amazing to watch high school students pick an egg from a nest and listen for chicks. :love Sweet little things still searching for miracles.

It was dark enough, so I candled the eggs they were listening to, plus one from a broody. One kid said "I live on a farm with sheep and chickens. This is nothing."

Me: "it's never 'nothing'."

Him: "well, it's nothing new."

He's new to us, so I didn't want to say to him that I hope I never reach the point in my life that the miracle of life is "nothing new." I've hatched hundreds of chicks, and I'm still amazed and excited every single time.

I think he was trying to be cool. I hope so, at least. He seems like a sweet kid, maybe.

BUT as they were leaving I reminded them to wash their hands. He said, "nah, they don't really need to." I reminded him that some people had touched the livestock.

"Well I live on a farm. A little mud won't hurt you."

I agreed and said "yes, but poop will make you poop."

I don't like teenagers contradicting me. :rant but he didn't have much else to say about that. :lau
