is the registering of a yak the same as registering a dog with akc?

to some extent. But you have to be a member of IYAK in order to register any calves or transfer ownership of registered yaks. The fee's aren't much more then AKC.

if both parent's are registered and the calve is under 2 yrs old (I believe) there is no problem. My 3 unregistered cows should be no problem other then the age which is why I have to jump through hoops.

have never eaten it. Supposed to be better tasting then beef and healthier for you then chicken. Ground yak goes for 10.00 /pound plus shipping if you can actually find any for sale. To fatten them up just feed alpha no grain.
