Once they get old enough to scratch through the cover I would be careful. Don't want them eating the filling.

Love taking urban kids to the farm. It's really just my favorite thing. They're so sweet and curious. They ALWAYS ask if they can eat the chickens like it's offensive.

Favorite today was when a boy pointed at Baby Beaux and asked "you ever milk that cow?"

It is surprising how little some of them know about these things. Great you can show them the ropes. Do I see a cow in your future? Some very cute miniature ones. It would be educational!!!!

I do have a mini cow breeder lined up. She said she has a heifer that's TOO SMALL to breed.

Raising beef and pork for the camp is on our five year plan. Three years to go!

I let them pet the baby goats, a rooster, and two different baby chicks. They saved their watermelon rinds yesterday and gave them to the animals today. They were disgusted by the blood on Roxie's backside. They were surprised at how warm fresh eggs are, and asked "but what's inside?" so many times I just cracked one. They were surprised by how soft a chickens feathers are, especially under the wing. They always love to touch the feet and combs and tell me how weird it is.

I can't even say how much I love it. I hope in 30 years I meet the president of the USA and he says "I remember when I spent 30 minutes at your farm." Having kids visit the farm fills me with so much hope.

Well, I counted. From coop to coop to brooder I have 88 chickens. 4 eggs in lockdown tonight, 15 in the bator, and 11 under a broody.

well I just "hurt Lu's feelings" she got swatted with a bank statement and OMG you would have thought I killed all of her puppies in front of her.

She just will NOT leave poor Yuri alone constantly whining,crying,whimpering and trying to hump him. He just lays there and growls.

Oh campin sounds like a wonderful plan!!! I would so love to raise one or two for meat as well!!! def will do pigs!!!!
