It is caring people like you who make this thread and website worth all the BS when trying to type. post. or anything else on here.

THANK YOU ALL ONCE AGAIN !!!!

well Star is Nostril-dumb-azz play on Nostradamas. Because instead or googling astromineres I searched for astralogiers being tired and unable to spell creates occasionally "issues"

When we wean and separate the calves end of Oct early Nov. We will start taming them down. Treats and good touches.

We are all leaning heavily towards Granny being in the family way. Porter has shown no "interest" in her and vice-a-verse-a and she just looks "fuller" towards her back legs.

Size does seems to matter when talking about a potential breeding bull. And I think wagoner is going to be just like Porter.

size also helps if selling for slaughter. BUT I think Wagoner has to much going for him to end up on the table. Unless he is anti-people. then all bets are off.
Ah, then that's the time we should all come visit and help socialize the youngsters! Do you halter train them? I just know horses. We handle the foals from day one. Makes it easier when you are not worried about getting gored by the mare!

I suppose we could halter train them I know they have halter "classes" at the annual Yak show in Denver. I just want them TAME and not crazy like Sheila and Comet. I supposed there is such a thing as to friendly when you are talking about and 1800 pound bull. I mean you don't want him in your lap or trying to crawl in the 4 wheeler.

I would have liked to do that BUT I don't trust the "girls" enough to try and it's not just the mother all the "ladies" take a very active interest in PROTECTING the calves from harm or a perceived threat.

Deer season gun/rifle opens in Nov. So I want the entire herd up by the buildings before then. I do have the land posted BUT there are always idiots.

Like the one's who shoot Holstein's (the black and white milk cow) thinking they are deer, And there is always the chance of a stray bullet.

The tamer the mamas the better. Horses would foal in the double stall, almost always attended by someone and my cat Snoopy up in the rafters. If they dropped them in the pasture with other mares around, it would have been a little trickier. Stallion was kept separate of course. He could be a little unpredictable.

Very little hunting in our area anymore. Too many people around. One gunshot and the sheriff's office would get 50 calls. maybe not 50, someone will call. Anyone who would "accidentally" shoot a Holstein should not be allowed to own a gun. I believe the 2nd amendment should be honored, but not when it comes to stupid people. or crazys.

YEP and we are working on that part. Also trying to keep them stress free-er so there are no complications. Keep in mind my girls have been shuffeled around a lot in the past 1-1 1/2 and the previous owner we afraid of them , so no real positive human contact for awhile.

That is a lot of conditioning to over come. Enola was sniffing my hand last night on her way by, but I had no treats and the fresh grazing was calling. Star sort of huffed/grunted at me as she raced by for the new pasture. Granny sort of went with the flow.
