Are they fat ? sounds like heart/ stress death. unless its very hot and you moved them in boxes or such ?

he put all the hens into 1 extra large dog carrier. I personally think it was a combo of stress and smothered and maybe old age as she was 2 yrs or a little older. Had I been around to see what he was doing I would have told him make 2 or 3 trips.

So Rod moved all the Silver lace out of the annex today and into Gen pop. So how in the move we ended up with a dead hen. NOT counting that one I have lost 9 hens out of the annex in less then 2 months. And of course no rooster's have been carried off

Dead but not eaten? Any wounds or predator damage or did she just keel over? Maybe you have a disease thing going on. Mold maybe? Was she a good body weight... getting enough food? If you still have mean Queens, maybe they are guarding the food.

nope she just keeled (pun intended) over was a nice healthy weight. I still have a few mean queens but they weren't in the same coop/run until today. I know some of the old brahma hens just died of old age BUT have still lost over 40 other hens. NOT that many bodies were found so the coons carried a bunch off some where.

The hen that died today went into the live trap as bait this evening.

I hope you all have a good day tomorrow and a good sleep tonight. I am gonna try to lay down. Good thing my bed is adjustable.
sleep well.
