@casportpony
and any of y'all who can answer:
My neighbour has a hen that received injuries from a dog. She does not have any large flesh or (from what I can tell) internal injuries, but her foot appears to be broken- Swollen around the centre and she will not put any weight on it, instead using her wing to hop around.
I cleaned her up, splinted and wrapped her leg, and made her as comfortable as possible. We'd like to give saving her a try, as she is their favourite hen. She eats and drinks well and does not appear to be in shock which leads me to believe she has a fighting chance.... Anything else I can do for her?
Somewhere in my travels around the internet I saw Aspirin can be used for a pain reliever in chickens. Is this true? If so, what dosage and how is it delivered? Thanks.....

I had a pullet that survived a coyote attack. She had punctures and internal injuries, as well as a dangling leg. Long rehab short, I kept her in a small cage for a few weeks, then a big cage for a few weeks. Then I put her in the tractor for a month with a gentle friend. The tractor have her "chicken practice" with flapping, scratching, running. She went back to the flock and was fine til a dog killed her.

81 mg aspirin once a day for pain. I have done this before. I have heard prednisone for inflammation but wouldnt know dose. As camping said, keep confined with food and water close to keep her off her foot .

Thanks!! She's in a rabbit hutch w/ food and water right next to her.

Got DS off to school this morning - really hoping he has a good day.    DH and FIL went and picked up the new-to-us couch this morning at the re-store (gosh I love that place)  so now I have to figure out how to re-configure the living room......two weeks in and I'm already re-decorating :lol:   I think I just need to invite my MIL over, she re-does her furniture several times a year so she'll have it all figured out in no time.

Have to admit, I am *really* looking forward to tomorrow - DS will be off to school and DH will go to work, it'll be the first time I've had time all to myself since July!!!!!  I'll probably do something really exciting like mop the floors, lol..
So glad you guys are getting all settled in

Hi Lisa ! how are you ? garden all gone ? still in the 90s here.
Hi granny, so glad your on, have missed you. The garden is dwindling, but still have tomatoes, zucchini, beans & cucumbers going. Thankfully I'm done canning except for making some applesauce. Still picking for the veggie stand. How are you doing?

I offered Robert breakfast this am and he hadnt been to bed yet and was tired. Then he got over tired. My children are funny when they are overtired. After he got his belly full I drove to a hair cutting store. He said, You cant just kidnap me and make me go in there. I said, yes I can, get out. So , he got a very nice haircut. I pulled the lady aside and said make sure it gets shampooed. and I left. Got home and called him in my bathroom and got the clippers and shaved his beard off. He was so tired he didnt know if he was coming or going . No way I could of got by with that any other way. The stars lined up. He still refused the picture though .
