Grapes-Apples-Pears-Peaches

I've fed apples, pears, grapes to my flock for over 8 years and never had any problems - when I make pie or cobbler, I give all the peelings and cores to the hens - they love them. I wouldn't worry about giving them any kind of fruit - worst thing might be some loose poop from too much watermelon! Citrus seems to get ignored, but all other fruits are appreciated.

Grape seeds are toxic to most animals. I always buy seedless. Not only do my kids devour them, but my dog and chickens go crazy for them!

Would "most animals" include humans? Concords are my favorite grapes & I eat them seeds & all. Have for more than 50 years. When can I expect them to kill me?

i got some free leftover squash, pumpkins and watermelons after the first hard freeze we had. They were all wrinkly and sunken in but the birds loved them.

Ok, you guys have been lots of help so far, so, how about peaches?

lol all summer I get what the farmers around here call pick outs. Usually it costs a dollar for a whole watermelon, 2 canalopes, bags of grapes ect. All because they are either a little over ripe or brused. In the fall the same thing happens with squash or pumpkins now if I can just find cheap winter treats for the girls and my goats they wont feel so darn neglected eating reg chicken and goat food all winter long.

I grow wine grapes (Zinfandel & Cabernet Sauvignon) that have seeds. My chickens all ate quite a bit of the grapes this past fall, and didn't seems the worse for it. They loved them, and got everything that was low enough to the ground to reach or jump up to get. Hopefully this is OK, because I would hate to have to keep them away from the vines next fall. And I'll be durned if I'm going to seed the grapes for them!
