You put the tip of the barrel right between the wires of the trap; the varmit will face you, so it's easy to get a head shot. Blowing a big hole in the live trap with a big gun is not the best idea! Mary
So true!
The first raccoon I had to shoot in a trap made it quite easy on me... she grabbed the barrel of my .22 and put it in her mouth! Smart... or suicidal??

Have fun putting that 'puzzle' back together Lol!
There's a guy that puts on quite the display at out local fair of complete skeletons. Everything, mice, birds, snakes, to large animals. He must have some patience.
I do skull European mounts with deer skulls. Trick with them is to remove what you can before boiling and then just boil long enough to easily remove much of the rest while keeping the skull intact. Dermestid beetles take care of the rest, I don't buy them the beetles naturally find the skull somehow hung up in my garage.
I don't buy the whitening kit either, cheap chlorine free bleach from the store is peroxide and works great.

we use a .22lr to dispatch coons. mostly because its quick and clean (i find the .22 short is not as quick as the .22lr, after witnessing my grandpa having to shoot one twice it was not fun and i felt really bad then i decided we needed to up are power to a quicker kill) and the other big reason is handguns are mostly illegal here in Canada (we needed a special permit to get one and then can not fire it unless we are at a range that is legal too)
