Gray eggs


The purple egg layer was this pretty bird I got from a lady that was moving. I still don't know what she is. Just a splash as far as I know. Med. sized.

I would agree. I don't have alot of birds and have not done any inbreeding, there is a possiblity with these...

I gave their parents to a lady as eggs, she gave me back the egg's eggs. They may have inbreed, or the other roo at their farm may be the dad.. where is Maurie Povich when you need him?
 
I have a hen that lays a 'grey' egg. Not quite as deeply colored as yours, but it appears grey when compared to blue, green or brown eggs. My hen is a mutt from cuckoo Marans, Araucana and silver laced Wyandotte background.

Bred to an Araucana rooster, all of her pullets laid different shades of green.

So, I would guess the brown shell gene plays a part in the grey shell color.
