Great danes and the flock

maybe try some, training classes.... sound like you might have already??
doing things to keep his MIND busy.. like put his food in a "cookie ball" so he has to WORK for all his food,, use his mind to get it out of the ball..
need his body tired,.. go for runs, play fetch , drag him behind your car HAHAHAHAAH just KIDDING....
if you want chickens again.. build a fort knox coop with cactus and hotwire...

hey now..no need to get snippy with me...sorry, all i was saying was....in MY opinion a 2x4 is NEVER necessary..unless you are being attacked....IF the dog is trained properly...*as you know..* it will listen to you!........NOW..the electric fence thing....i agree that could be helpful...but..as for MYSELF..i would NEVER hit my dogs with 2x4's.*it honestly would'nt have even crossed my mind*.......if they dont listen to me..well..then i blame MYSELF..and go back and try to train them better...i would hate for a dog that hadnt been properly trained, and THEN hit by a 2X4 to turn on a human someday..then get put down....because he bit out of a fear response....thats all i was saying with my "OUCH"...which BTW..i didnt CAP or anything else rude...so, please dont be mad at me...i wasnt rude to you...have a nice day, Wendy *who owns a Dane ;o)..*

think about it every day when i go to work, when i said i could never lay a hand on him i didnt say i wouldnt whoop his hind for him, i was just saying i could cold cock him with a 2*4 think it will work on him. like i said i have to catch him in the act. he pulls his little stunts behind our back

redhen...uumm sorry.. i did not get snippy,, sorry if you read it that way.. you can not hear the inflection in my words.....i was not writing it like that and i am NOT MAD at anybody..
and YES i DO NOT mean a LITTERAL 2X4... i NEVER HIT my dog either.. i guess i better re-word what i am trying to say..
but i will make my dogs submit if needed, and NOT with a 2X4 or beatings.. that is NOT me,, usually when we say 2x4, it means a pinch collar and an hour .. again sorry i was misunderstood..
i am talking here like i do on the dog boards, they understand me there, you guys dont know me yet..

i am firmly saying... if people let a large dog run there life BAD things happen... and i dont like to see these thing happen to the owner dogs or victims.. all for lack of fences or training..

....and i agree with you!..they HAVE to respect you...or forget it!...my English Mastiff pup is still VERY young..but i put him on his back now if he play bites to hard..or growls when playing..etc..i grab his scruff and tug some and he falls right over on his back and submits...then i let him up and gives me kisses....lol..its just their natural instinct..they NEED a pack leader....;o)

yea everything about him is huge feeding bill to terds, i just come in from the fields when the pic was taken and he was happy to see him the world record dane was 7' 3" i cant accuratly measure him. he got into his food one night and ate close to all 50 lbs of it. some one said they were bred for big game hunting and war> i knew that, he come home draggin full sized doe deer, aint got a clue to how he would catch um. some would still be half alive he would get them to the house. I hunt and i ever lost any game and needed help tracking he goes.
