Shouldn't we blame Clinton for his open door free trade agreement or NAFTA? So many of our companies are moving overseas, building products and ship it world wide.
What I don't get is this, our employer, CAT, would manufacture parts in Mexico, ship it up here or varios CAT locations where they will be assembled, completed or incomplete. Don't they ever stop and think about saving dollars? Shipping here and there, tractors incompleted, going from one factory to another in a different town or different state. I think CAT is pricing themselves too high, due to transportation expenses and union wages, health insurance, maintaince of buildings. I know CAT has a headquarters in Peoria, IL and have done reasonably well. Now the Peoria river is constantly low, getting barges stuck, and high taxes, they were talking about moving down to Mexico and building more factories in the Far East countries.
I would assume Wal Mart would have done so well in other countries. Particuarly if they had some in Russia, remember the long food lines, and food shortages that riots occurred more often, seeing empty refigerated units, and poor old, elderly, the young and the poor would literally shake their fists in frustrations at their government. Are we going to head in that direction of old Soviet leadership that everyone has to fight to stay alive, drink ourselves to death or rationed foods?
