HI all< so just yesterday i was given a game bird cockerel (aseel type breed) who is about 6 months old that was attacked by a fox and went missing for severeal days. when he was found-badly injured-he was given to me. i have cleaned all his wounds and applied pet safe antiseptic(near cloaca, on back, under wing and several scratches) . i have also deloused/ mite treated him as a precautionary measure on which i do all my chickens. his right foot also seems injured as he always holds it up and it is red/bruised. he dosent walk around much at all and occasionaly eats himself ( i am feeding him kefir with oats and barley, along with pellets and small millet as a treat to help entice him to the food. if he dosent eat enough then i hold the bowl under his head and he eats more that way. my problem is- he seems to be pooping green poop? its green and yellowish diarrahea and sometimes more firmer poop. (i will attach photos :s ) . the green stool smells like bile? like when you puke after you dont eat? but i could be wrong-his tail is missing and his vent seems a bit yellowy and dirty? im not sure but to me it dosent look normal. to my naked eye- there are no visible worms in his poop and no blood present. is there a reason for the green poop and could it be linked to any infections or the liver? could it be the external injuries that have somehow damaged his liver? i just hope its nothing bad. any advice or answers would be much appreciated. thanks in advance all!! ps. one of the pics has a mealworm he dropped, not a worm haha

Dead beetle larva, I guessing a meal worm.

Diet as described too lean on protein, even for an Aseel. I would pop him with a little boiled egg and some actual live meal worms to see what his appetite is up to. Or mix in a little chick feed.

Fiber evident in diet as well as a lot of uric acid (white in feces). He is still reparing damage somewhere or catabolizing a lot of protein which likely if his diet to lean.

Green poop can indicate several things - not eating enough/improper diet, infection and sometimes worms or coccidiosis. Since he is injured get him eating and drinking. Offer more protein like @centrarchid posted. It won't hurt to direct dose him with some poultry vitamins like Poultry Nutri-Drench (1cc per 3lbs of weight) for a couple of days.
Keep us posted.

Update / green poop has stopped ! He is pooping normally now, just still a bit lethargic and recovering. He is eating and drinking himself now ! He is 6 months old - shal I feed him growers or layers pellets ? Layers might have too much calcium and growers might not have enough nutrients for his age? Thanks all

The grower will do fine if it is fresh. Be prepared to dilute it with items with lesser amounts of protein once he is well into recovery. He will do better on a diet is about 14 to 18% protein once major damage repaired. I think Aseels have been selected for a long time to be maintained on diets that are not as rich as what is used to feed production birds.

You may need to confer with someone really into Aseels to get a handle of proper long-term care.
